Music in KS1

In KS1 the children enjoy developing their performance and musicianship, singing and composition skills.

KS1 Music curriculum

Hound Dog

In Autumn 2, KS1 children enjoyed listening and dancing to Hound Dog. The children learned to feel the beat in music and to play the twelve bar blues. We also did lots of singing ready for our Christmas performance.

Wild Man

In Spring 1 children have experienced a third style of music in listening to Wild Man. The children drew pictures to show what they thought the music reminded them of. After doing this, the children learned about ostinato and created ostinatos using music technology. We all very much enjoyed this.

Mozart: Rondo alla Turca

This term the children in KS1 have enjoyed listening to Mozart's composition-Rono alla Turca.

Do have a listen below:

They have enjoyed marching to the music, performing a march and composing their own march. They have also enjoyed learning to sing "Hello, how are you?"

Composing Ostinatos.
