Whole School Art Day June 2025
We started our final half term with a whole school art day based on Cedric Morris' painting 'Flowers in a Portuguese landscape'. It is a painting we have been studying all year and will be the inspiration for our own art gallery in a few weeks time on Wednesday 25th June at 3.20pm, everyone is invited.
Please see some of the wonderful photos of the activities the children undertook this week.
Early years children became real artists using acrylic paints and painting with real artist fine brushes and they did brilliantly!
KS1 children made giant tissue paper flowers and created a beautiful landscape picture using buildings and flowers. They are beautiful!
LKS2 children created some mixed media pictures.
UKS2 created fabric flowers which they used to decorate t-shirts or flip flops ready for their fashion show later in the term. They enjoyed their dewing enormously!

Art Project 2024 - 2025
This year our whole school project is based on Cedric Morris' painting entitled 'Flowers in a Portuguese landscape'.
We were very fortunate to go to The Gainsborough Gallery to see the original painting in their exhibition in October. It was a wonderful experience.
Our first whole school art day was Monday 4th November.
Please see below for some photos of our work so far.
Tudor Art Exhibition 2024
This was a new venture for us this year. We decided that as a school we would enjoy a year long project based on 'The Girl with the Pearl Earring'. Every class worked on various aspects of the painting over 3 days during the year.
Day 1 we focussed on the context of the painting.
Day 2 we focussed on the technique of the painting - underpainting
Day 3 we produced some art using the techniques learnt about previously.
All of this work was then displayed in school one afternoon. We invited our local art gallery The Gainsborough House and also the Town Mayor. We served sparkling drink and canapes for every adult and child who visited. The gallery was open between 3.20pm and 5.30pm. We were crowded out and were delighted to welcome so many people to see the wondeful art produced by the children which was of an exceptionally high standard.
Please see the photos below for some highlights.
After School Art Club.

Art Enhancement and Pop Up Club!
Our Pop Up Art Club was very popular this week! Children from Upper Key Stage 2 worked in the art studio one evening to create these lovely landscapes.
They were a complete delight to work with!
Inspired by famous artists.
These paintings were painted following inspiration from Monet's famous painting.
We enjoyed using oil paint onto canvas for these still life paintings.
